House fire in Amarillo TX, disabled veteran and family

My name is Keren and my brother is one of the best people I’ve ever known. I might be biased, but that’s ok. He’s my brother. And my only brother in the whole world.

On Wednesday, September 24th 2025, his whole world came crashing down when the home that he has been working diligently to pay for and keep his family in for the last 10 years caught on fire. It started in the kitchen and quickly spread throughout the rest of the hallway and down to the living room and other rooms. Thankfully, the Amarillo Fire Department was able to get everyone out safely. My brother, his wife, and their youngest son were home at the time with their 4 dogs, including my brother's service dog (he is prior military, 10 years active duty, and a disabled veteran).

Unfortunately, yesterday they did have to put one of the pups down due to smoke inhalation. Originally, the insurance adjusters said they might only have to gut and remodel the kitchen. Turns out it’s going to be the entire house. It will take a full year for a full remodel, they said. They do have homeowners insurance, but that will pay for the home, and the costs of living will be so much more than that due to them having to be out of their home for a full year. Please help me to keep my brother and his family warm and fed while their home is being rebuilt.
