This weekend three of my very dear friends lost the place they have called home for the past five years to a devastating fire. Nearly all of their belongings have been ruined by the fire and smoke damage.
Derek, Cole, and Shane are UVic and Camosun students. This disaster has struck at an unfortunate time for these boys; the semester is just ending, final exams are upcoming, all whilst Cole is in the process of defending his masters thesis.
The fire started in the laundry room, and thankfully, Derek, who was home at the time, made it out safely. While they are all physically OK, without coverage they are faced with tremendous financial trials.
They are now not only left to deal with the grief of losing their home and belongings, but also with the difficult task of finding a new home in Victoria.
Their lives have been completely uprooted. While they attempt to rebuild the lives they have created for themselves here in Victoria, we are kindly asking for donations to assist them with rent, food, and clothing.
This will be far from an easy process. However, I hope that the generosity of their community can assist in supporting them during these trying times.
If you are located in the Greater Victoria area and have clothing or house furnishings you would like to donate, please feel free to reach out to me.
