The rental house fire has displaced us from our home and left us in limbo. Nearly everything we own is with restoration companies and could take months to return. Renters insurance will cover some things eventually, but not nearly enough — and with no timeline, we’re left scrambling to cover housing, essentials, and constant expenses. The future feels frighteningly unclear.
It pains me to ask — I’ve always been the one people could count on, not the one asking. Swallowing my pride to do this has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced. Most of my family is gone; I have a brother in South Carolina and an uncle locally, but I’ve long been without a strong support system. That makes this even harder to admit: we can’t get through this without help.
If you’re able to give, know that every bit of support means more than I can put into words. If you can’t, sharing this fundraiser could connect us with someone who can. And please know this — asking me for help in the future is always an option.
***Update***
So many have asked how the GoFundMe will help us, and I want to be transparent. ❤️
We’ve already had to put down over $8,000 just to get into a temporary rental. Our house won’t be fixed until April, and restoration crews won’t even begin packing out what’s left until October — meaning no renters insurance has been released yet.
On top of that, we’re still replacing emergency essentials day by day. Every bit adds up, and right now we’re completely tapped.
Funds from this campaign will go directly toward:
Ongoing emergency replacement of basics (clothing, bedding, household items)
Bridging the gap until insurance finally pays out
We’re so grateful for the kindness, generosity, and support shown so far. Please consider donating or sharing — it truly keeps us going.
