My name is Mindy Houpt. Our family suffered complete destruction early this morning. Dundee firefighters responded to a structure fire overnight at 12:19am in the 19000 block of Tecumseh St at Houpt Farms. Crews arrived to find a 60’x120’ barn fully engulfed, containing hay bales and farm equipment. The rural location of the fire necessitated mutual aid from several departments to provide water supply via tankers, as hydrants were not available. Crews remained on scene until 6am.

One of our firefighters, Travis Houpt, faced a frightening situation while responding to a fire at his family's farm. Please keep the Houpt family in your thoughts. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
