Thank you for visiting our “Houdi Girls Give Back” Go Fund Me page!
My Name is Emily Houdi and together with my niece Ayla Houdi we are the Houdi Girls who have pledged to cut and donate our hair to make wigs for those who have lost their hair due to illness and/or cancer treatment.
In addition, to donating our hair to the Canadian Cancer Society, we have also set a goal to raise money for a few young memebers of our community whom we are aware are battling cancer. Together with your generous support we hope to raise funds to help these individuals with some expenses that would provide them with some comfort in their battle. The funds will be used to help support with treatment costs, living expenses or any other necessary expenses to provide them the opportunity to continue to battle this monstrous disease or provide them with some relief or comfort in their journey.
Regrettably, cancer has touched the lives of many and on a personal level, several members of my family have been affected by this devastating disease including my aunt who is a survivor however, my grandmother, uncle and most tragically my 19 year old cousin have all passed away from cancer of various forms. This disease has touched my heart and I have for a long time committed to grow and donate my hair in an effort to make someone suffering feel slightly better. Now, with the help of my very brave 7 year old niece Ayla, who has pledged to also cut her hair, we want to multiply our impact by also raising money! As many of you may know, this disease can cripple a family not only emotionally, but also financially. For this reason, I want to use this opportunity to help raise funds to help a few "young soldiers" in our local community who are currently fighting hard to beat this awful disease.
Your generous donations will go a long way in providing these individuals with desperately needed treatment and comfort. We have set a goal to raise $5000.00 but it doesn’t have to stop there. Any amount donated will help us reach and hopefully exceed this goal particularly, as we are approaching the holiday season.
This year instead of buying gifts for your loved ones, give the gift of life to someone in need by donating the money you would spend on gifts or a portion of it to this cause. Help those who need it more! In the past, I have made financial donations to those suffering, in lieu of Christmas gifts for my family and I invite you and your families to do the same this year!
Those who donate $100 or more will also be invited to an exclusive cocktail reception where they will witness the live cutting of our hair and be there to cheer us on and enjoy some light refreshments. So do leave us your contact information.
We thank you in advance for your kind and generous support. We hope this effort will go a long way to bring some hope and comfort to these individuals as they continue their powerful fight against cancer. Together we can BEAT this disease!
PS. Join our hair donation campaign!
Did you know it takes about 10 hair donations to make 1 wig? If you or anyone you know has long hair and would like to make a difference join our hair donation campaign by contacting me.
Disclaimer:
The reason we have not mentioned the names of the individuals whom we wish to give this money to is:
1. For privacy reasons
2. Commitment to 1 or 2 individuals is pending how much money is raised.
If you have any further questions or concerns feel free to contact me.
Many thanks,
Emily Houdi, BA. MPA
