July 2021:
In 2018 An all-women crew, the Hot Chili Chicas, drove 9,000 kms in 19 days across Southern Africa from Cape Town to Mozambique to raise money for school shoes and supplies for young children along our route in Africa
AND for A.A.D.A.S - an association in Barcelona that supports women and children who have suffered sexual violence.
2020 was the 10th anniversary of the Put Foot Rally, however due to Covid-19, that year's rally had to be postponed.
In 2021, the Hot Chili chicas returned to Africa, visiting Nungwi Primary School in Zanzibar to donate school materials. On this visit we discussed the needs of this school of nearly 2,000 children and very few resources.
As they have to buy water from trucks despite a water pipe being located 600m from the school, we agreed to raise the funds to connect this pipe to a tap at the school if the school would organise the official permit to do this and the provide the manual labour necessary.
We raised €3,000 which was sent to the school and the tap was connected.
The needs of this school are ongoing and the next urgent need is a new toilet block for the children. We are committed to raising funds for the building materials and local labour to enable this to happen.
We are very grateful for any donations received that allow us to help them.
