Funeral expenses for Emjay & Marvin's tatang
Donation protected
Who this will help
If you are a reading this, you may already know Emjay or kuya Marvin. You may know their story and that both of their parents live in the Philippines. Their parents made immense sacrifices to give each of them the life they have here in the US. And for that, the two of them have been supporting their parents for the last 5 years. In 2019, their mom was diagnosed with dementia, and has required more support from each of them. This includes paying for medical visits, daily medications, housing, transportation, in-home caregiving, and basic necessities. Providing this support is challenging without any emergencies. Although, if you know them, you know how important family is, and that they would do anything to support their loved ones above themselves.
Why we're fundraising
Since retirement, their dad (tatang) returned to the Philippines to be with family and their mother. Before Thanksgiving, Emjay and kuya Marvin's tatang's health started to rapidly decline and he was diagnosed with pulmonary edema and a weak heart. He has been in the ICU on a ventilator since November 28th and on December 7th, his ventilator was removed so that he could try to breathe more on his own. Tatang's wish is to be back in the comfort of his own home but to do that he needs to be able to breathe without it's support. Emjay and kuya Marvin have been in the Philippines since tatang became ill and will be there through the end of December.
The impact of your support
We are asking for support in the hospital expenses incurred over the last several weeks, including two trips to the ICU, and for help covering medical expenses that will make tatang more comfortable at home. To fulfill tatang's wish of going home, he will need oxygen, a hospital bed, and a full-time caregiver once he's able to leave. Relief from some of the financial costs will allow their family to focus on each other during this difficult time. We sincerely appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and any donation makes a huge difference. Even if you are unable to donate, we appreciate you sharing their story and gofundme link.
