Everyday there are about 12,576 emerging cases of Covid in the Philippines. Among those positive is my family in the Philippines. Just a week ago, all my dad’s family, including my aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandmother became ill. My grandmother did not make it. And the rest of the family were not able to attend to her remains as they were picked up from their homes, and were placed to quarantine in a government based facility. Today, my uncle (my dad’s brother) who was very sick, also just passed away. But the hospital will not release his body if the bills are not cleared. Because of everything that is happening the expenses are adding up, from the covid testing of each one of them,  for my grandmother’s hospitalization and cremation, to the food and supplies that is needed at the facility, and now my uncle’s hospital bills and his cremation. The expenses are high. We are trying our best here in Canada to help out, but there is just so much we can do since we aren’t able to be there with them during this difficult time. We could use some help, even if it’s just a little, so we can help the others get better and get back on their feet again.
