Hi Family, Friends, and New Friends,
We’re reaching out to ask for your support for an incredible woman - Jewels (Lockhart) MacDonell. She’s a devoted mother, loving daughter, sister and friend to many!!!
Jewels is the proud mom of Eva (15) and Harley (14). Over the past year, she has been courageously battling colon cancer. After completing chemotherapy and radiation, she was preparing for the next hopeful step: surgery to remove the tumor.
Tragically, during surgery, Jewels suffered a life-threatening complication - a leak from her colon into her abdominal cavity, which led to septic shock. She spent 20 days in the ICU and 48 days in the hospital, fighting not only cancer but for her life.
Once the infection was finally brought under control, a follow-up scan brought heartbreaking news: the cancer had spread to her liver and lungs. It is now considered incurable.
Jewels is currently in palliative care and will be on lifelong chemotherapy to maintain quality of life for as long as possible. Her doctors estimate she has 2–3 years.
Through it all, Jewels remains incredibly focused on being present for Eva and Harley - helping them understand what’s happening and supporting them through this emotional journey. But the financial strain is becoming overwhelming.
Jewels is unable to work while undergoing treatment. Her medical team is based in Denver, Colorado - where she’s receiving the care that gives her the best possible chance of more time with her girls. But this also means her treatments aren’t covered by Canadian healthcare, and U.S. insurance doesn’t cover everything. Medical bills are piling up, along with costs for future surgeries, travel, and daily living expenses.
No one should have to choose between financial survival and life-saving care.
Jewels deserves to focus on her health, her daughters, and making memories - not worrying about how to pay hospital invoices.
We're asking for your help to:
*Cover the uninsured portion of her medical treatments and medications
*Support upcoming surgeries and care needs
*Reduce financial stress on Jewels and her daughters
*Allow her to focus on what matters most: being present and living fully in the time she has
*Every donation - no matter the amount - makes a real difference.
And if you’re not in a position to donate right now, please consider sharing this message with your network.
Let’s come together and help Jewels and her girls with the love, care, and support they deserve.
Thank you for all of your support and care!!!
