My name is Gary Perro. I've been paralyzed from my neck down and on a respirator for the past 22 years. I spend most of my time in my hospital bed. Currently, my hospital bed is literally falling apart underneath me and my mattress cover is worn down, ripped, and not providing therapeutic skin protection.

As a full quadriplegic, my medical equipment is essential to not only my quality of life but the longevity of my life. Insurance companies refuse to pay for an adequate hospital bed/air mattress to keep me comfortable while ensuring good positioning and prevention of bedsores until I actually have damage to my skin! It is so important for people in my condition to take a proactive approach to their care. Bedsores are a common problem to people with paralysis. They can lead to severe infections and can sometimes be fatal.

I’m raising money for myself to purchase a strong, sturdy long-term care Medline hospital bed with extended rails for positioning. Also, an Invacare air mattress cover to prevent skin damage.
