Hi, my name is Anna and all together with my son Bradley and our pony Misty, we have been fundraising for different charities since December 2023.
I have started fundraising after my second cancer diagnosis as I wanted to focus my mind on something positive. Something that would give me a reason to move forward and give back to community.
It was also a dream of mine to drive a carriage and I wanted my pony to be confident around traffic so taking her out and about the near by areas was a good way to get her started.
Our fundraising journey started with collecting money for the Munlochy Animal Aid in Inverness.
We also supported The Salvation Army, MFR Cash4kids and Mikeysline, The Firefighters Charity and The Highland Hospice.
We have learned about legal requirements along the way and had to get specific public liability insurance that would allow public to interact with our pony which was important for me. Many people light up when they see her and it gives me joy to see people smile when they can approach her and say hello.
Our pony is kept at a private yard at the outskirts of Inverness and we have been getting everyone with her by foot.
Sometimes it takes us over an hour to get to a location where we go for fundraising. We walk along public roads and face traffic.
Our own transport for Misty would allow us to save time to get to and from different locations and definitely would help us feel more safe. Not to mention a hideaway from rainy days.
