Hello, my name is Brandy! I am currently in school with the hopes of being a veterinarian one day! Four years ago, I adopted a little pit bull mix that was taken from an abusive situation with six puppies! She was full of heartworms and had her leg amputated. All of her puppies were adopted well before she was. When I met her, it was love at first sight! The shelter named her Hopper since she's a tripod that hops on her back end! We went through the long and expensive process of heartworm treatment, and she has been heartworm-free for about three years now.
Now we face an even bigger challenge. Bearing all her weight on her one back leg, she tore her cranial cruciate ligament and meniscus. This is the human-equivalent of tearing her ACL. Hopper has been in pain and rendered almost non-ambulatory. My best friend has to be carried everywhere she goes: upstairs, from the couch to her food bowl, and even outside to potty. She needs a full TPLO to repair her back leg and walk again. The procedure is about $5,000. All funds will go to the costs of radiographs and surgery. It requires the skill of a veterinary specialist. It would mean the world to us if she could get just a little help walking again.
We will keep you updated on her journey to recovery! Thank you so much for your time and consideration for my best friend, Hopper!
