When we reached the small Madagascan town of Morondava—the most remote stop on our Africa trip in 2025—Alida developed acute appendicitis and was rushed to the town’s clinic, the Hôpital Betela, where she underwent emergency surgery. The director (the only surgeon and the expert for everything) and the young staff took wonderful care of her with their limited means.
The clinic already had plans to build a new addition with a proper operating room, which I helped restart. They still need additional funds, so any contribution will go a long way in helping the kind people of Morondava.
Thank you very much for your support.
