Hoping to Walk Again After an Accident: The Story of Camilo
Donation protected
My name is Daniela Ramírez, and today I write from the heart to share the story of one of the bravest people I know: my friend, Juan Camilo Londoño.
Juan Camilo is 28 years old. He trained as an international business negotiator and, through hard work, achieved one of his dreams: creating a fruit marketing company. Thanks to his business, he was able to start building the house where he lives with his parents. He was building a life with hard work, goals, and passion… until, in a single second, everything changed forever.
On February 10, 2024, while returning from a work trip on his motorcycle, a cargo truck struck him head-on on a curve. The impact was so severe that Juan Camilo fell into a coma for a month. When he woke up, he had no memory of the accident. He was in intensive care, and his body had been gravely injured.
The diagnosis was devastating:
• Over 20 fractures: in his vertebrae, femur, humerus, ulna, radius, hip, ribs, wrist, fingers, and foot
• Traumatic brain injury
• Hypovolemic shock upon arrival at the hospital
Since then, he has undergone 11 major surgeries. He started in a wheelchair, moved to a walker, and today he gets around with crutches. He still needs crucial procedures, like a quadricepsplasty that could allow him to bend his knee again—and with that, dream of walking unassisted.
As if that weren’t enough, Juan Camilo was unfairly declared responsible for the accident. Due to errors in the police report and a lack of legal representation while he was unconscious, he wasn’t able to prove he was the victim. This injustice has left a deep emotional scar.
This accident didn’t just fracture his body—it wounded his soul. He lost his business, accumulated debts, and the house he was building for his family was left unfinished. Today, he lives in a half-built home, facing anxiety, sadness, and the daily challenge of moving forward without any income.
That’s why today, as his friend and from the United States, I’ve decided to launch this campaign. Because Juan Camilo doesn’t just deserve to live—he deserves to live with dignity.
Through this campaign, we aim to raise funds to:
• Cover upcoming surgeries and medical treatments not covered by health insurance
• Pay for therapy, medication, transportation, and medical appointments
• Complete the construction of his family’s home
Juan Camilo survived something that could have cost him his life. Today, he fights every day with courage—but he needs a support network to rise again.
Your help can change everything.
If you’re unable to donate, simply sharing his story on your social networks is already an act of immense kindness.
Thank you for taking the time to read.
With hope,
Daniela Ramírez
