What would you give, to help save a life?
What if saving one life, could help save many others?

This is the story of our sister, Kim.

When Kim was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time in her life, we were shocked. As we have learned more about the type of cancer she has, we are terrified.

In 2015, Kim had to put the pain she was feeling in her breast and arm aside because our father was losing his fight with lung cancer. For two months she spent every moment she could with our father until he passed in December, but never knowing what was coming around the corner. She had a mammogram that April, so she never would have thought the pain she was feeling could be cancer.

January 2016, Kim returned home and had another mammogram. During that appointment, the technician asked her doctor to come look at the images. After the doctor looked at Kim’s mammogram, she was taken straight back for an immediate biopsy. Kim was frightened to be treated with such concern and urgency.

And that was just the beginning.

Kim is a victim of Metaplastic Carcinoma.

This cancer is so rare, that there is NO treatment protocol for it.

Less than 1% of breast cancers are this type and it is extremely aggressive.

In only 8 months, Kim had gone from 0 cancer, to stage 3. There is cancer in 90% of her left breast, which had also metastasized to the lymph nodes.

There were no answers to the typical questions we asked… What kind of treatment do I need? What are my chances of beating this? What are the survival rates?

It falls in the unknown category of CANCERS TOO RARE and still needing patients for research.

Every case is needed for documentation and further research. MD Anderson, the specialists and researchers there, are her best chance of becoming a survivor. But not only could this help save Kim, it could help save other victims to Metaplastic Carcinoma.

The first procedure was mastectomy of her left breast, several of the lymph nodes under her left arm and part of her pictorial muscle. She then began chemo with a combination of the three strongest chemo drugs available, which brings us to date.

MD Anderson in Houston Texas is one of the few Cancer Treatment Centers that are researching and treating this form of cancer.

Kim needs our help. Your help.

No one can afford something like this, yet is COST what we want to be the defining choice when life or death is the issue?

The first $20,000 is for her pending medical bills, and her fight to Texas. She needs help with travel and lodging, gas, medications and supplements, organic and specialized nutrition, over the counter supplies, meals, and to go towards a place to stay when she arrives in Houston Texas.

"Kim is my hero. I have never met a stronger person. She is also the most caring compassionate and giving person you could ever meet. She has many friends and people praying for her, and people that love her and respect her. She amazes me every day."

We pray that those who can, may give something; no matter how small.

There will be further posts of where the money is needed and will be spent as we go, and updates on Kim's progress through this journey. God bless you all for your compassion and caring.

Thank you so much from Kim herself, and all of us who love her!

Getting Kim to Houston is the PATH OF HOPE. Not only for her, but other families that become a victim to Metaplastic Carcinoma.
