What is the emergency?
I am behind on rent due to a job search taking longer than I thought it would. I was given a 3-day notice in the middle of October, and asked for a 2-week extension to pay by November 1st, and to pay November's rent, by the middle of that month with a roommate to come into the picture to help by then. The landlord agreed to that scenario.
Earlier today I finally got a full-time job offer, but I will not get my first check in time to cover the rent due in two days, I have been walking everywhere, from one suggested place to the next to see about getting local help from different organizations. Most require a current paystub to start the process... which I do not have yet, and/or they take several weeks to process and approve, time I do not have if I want to keep my apartment. I did not want make a GoFundMe initially, even though I actually love how this platform helps people, and figured I would find a way without it, but I am out of time and will lose my apartment. I would not be able to afford to live in the bay area if I had to search for a new place.
How did you even end up in this situation?
I had been working doing full-time ride-share driving for the past few years, it was enjoyable at first, but due to company changes this year resulting in less pay, I earned and less but was still working 12 hour days, with the same fuel costs etc.. I tried different schedules, taking the quickest breaks in between rides as possible to see if I could earn more to make a living, and finally, at the end of August, I had to stop and return the rental car I used because I was constantly in the red financially and not getting by.
The goal was to drive and study to learn software engineering, but the demanding schedule left no time and honestly no energy when you are going 12 hours and more per day, 7 days a week. My new job is not in tech yet, but will allow me a balanced schedule and to get consistent income unlike the driving venture, while also giving me time to study again in my free time
