Hey everyone, so here we are again..(TL;DR at bottom for you adhd people.)
Recap: My first GoFundMe was for when I had a hysterectomy due to a big as heck tumor (size of around a 6 to 7 month pregnancy) back in February. Surgery took 6 hours, left me with a long recovery time, and I was out of work for quite a while.
Fast forward: On August 5th, some cramping I had been dealing with (figured it was gas lol) escalated to the point of such debilitating pain that I couldn't move. My blood pressure shot to 198/145, and I had to go to the ER where they suspected an ovarian torsion and rushed me to the operating table. They found that my abdominal tissue had scarred over and embedded both my ovaries to my abdominal wall. My left ovary was completely encased, which simulated the torsion. They freed it enough to keep blood flow but were unable to fix it entirely because the surgeon wasn't skilled enough for a complex case. My ovary and the surrounding tissue were attached to my bladder, bowls, and kidney tubes, and they feared causing more harm than not.
They also said I have extensive adhesions through my bowels, woo!! All this likely due to my hysterectomy and my body saying, wtf.
This surgery had me out of work for 6 weeks straight, with my return to work being unfortunately inconsistent as the pain is constant and often unrelenting. I can't sit, bend, lay on my side, lift over 10 lbs, or use the bathroom (1 AND 2) without experiencing a lot of pain. I've vomited multiple times from it, had sweats with bouts of near fainting, the works...
They referred me to several surgeons but ultimately ended up with a gynecological oncologist who specializes in complex cases. He will be performing surgery next month that will have a 99% chance of having to remove my left ovary. 5% chance they take my right, although I explicitly said not to, I will ultimately look to the surgeon for the best solution. He will try to clean up the tissue and adhesions laparoscopically, but it's a higher probability that they will have to switch to open surgery and bring in a secondary surgeon to help with the surgery.
With the medical bills, continued time off from work, and so on, it's been a pretty big financial burden and it's left us without a lot of options. We've made it so far by the grace of God but we're reaching our financial threshold quickly and are without a lot of options. I hate to ask again since I've already asked once and please don't feel any obligation. Last time was beyond my expectations (it was truly amazing, thank you again). I'm just hoping that if anyone is able to help, that they will.
I am still working when I can until surgery and wanna give a shout out to my amazing bosses, Melanie and Jonathan Boles, who have been amazingly flexible and supportive.
I appreciate anyone who took the time to read this. If you feel inclined to share, give, or simply send me all the positive vibes, thank you. I will keep you updated!
TL;DR: Prior hysterectomy/tumor removal has caused ovaries and bowels to be scarred over and covered in adhesions. Had to have an emergency surgery and will have another in November. Pain is bad. Finances are getting bad. Still working, but can't work much. Reaching out for help and love. Thanks, friends.
