"Dear friends, family and the dobie community:
We don’t like to and we rarely ask for help with our personal dogs, but we are now asking if you would consider donating to help us raise $5,000 for ACL surgery for Hope, our 6 year old Doberman. Our friend and followers know that the almost all of our personal dogs are dogs that had been discarded by their previous owner(s) at the shelter or dumped on the streets.
Hope is one of these. She had a rough start in life - she was a puppy among a litter of Parvo-positive puppies who were dumped in the shelter. She managed to survive Parvo, and was adopted from the shelter by some people. After a few years, those owners decided they didn’t want her anymore because they were moving. During a meet and greet to rehome her, she was hit by a car. Thankfully she just had road rash and lacerations, and we took her to the vet to get her stapled up and treated. At this point in her short life, Hope has already been abandoned twice and escaped death twice in her short life, and we weren’t going to let her be abandoned again. So we added her to our pack. About 10 month ago, Hope started to show issues on one of her back leg. We crate-rested her and wrapped it to minimize movement, hoping it was just a sprain. She did not get better. Upon exam with an ortho surgeon, she was diagnosed with a torn ACL. If this isn’t fixed soon, the stress of the other leg compensating for the injured leg will cause the other ACL to tear as well. Right now, she is crippled and will remain so until she can get surgery. We are trying to raise $5,000 for Hope’s ACL surgery, initial diagnosis, and follow up X-rays. Any help is greatly appreciated and no amount donated is too small - we have a lot of unwanted dogs under our care, and its hard when there’s a major medical like this. Hope is only 7 years old and has gone through a lot. Would you help us take care of our girl and give her a better chance at living a good life?“”
