Hopeful: The Ward's Bundle of Joy

I must admit that it is NOT an easy thing to share your story of struggle for the world to read. As I write this, emotion is flooding through me: fear of being judge, anxiety, joy, sadness, and excitement of the possibilities. It's like that movie "Inside Out" all rolled into one. We are finally finding the courage to let our family and friends in on our struggle to have a child. We want to share our story with you in the hopes that you will help make our dreams a reality.

Clint and I have been trying for three and half years to have the child we both yearn for. It has been a roller coaster of a ride. Unfortunately our insurance only covers testing of infertility and not treatment. We are already thousands of dollars in and have run out of funds to start another cycle of treatment.

I was diagnosed with PCOS many years ago (Poly Cystic Ovary Syndrome) and having no thyroid, due to thyroid cancer, doesn't help the situation. Some of you might know what that is but others may not. Go here for more info http://www.pcosfoundation.org/what-is-pcos A large part of having PCOS is infertility.

We have tried a couple of months of using clomid, a medication that will often induce ovulation in women that do not develop and release an egg (ovulate) on their own.

After clomid didn't work we moved on to IUI (Intrauterine insemination). https://midwestfertility.com/what-we-do/intrauterine-insemination We have done two rounds of this treatment with no success. With an IUI there is an injection of a medication containing follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), which causes follicles containing eggs to develop in the ovaries. The injections are daily and depending on the dosage get rather expenisve, as the vile can only last two to three days (depending on where we can find it prices range from 300-650 per vile). Our last round we did 18 days of injections.

Once my follicles have grown big enough we then need a trigger shot of of a medication called HCG, which causes the eggs to complete the maturation process. Which again is a couple hundreds of dollars.

The final step is the IUI a coulple of days after the HCG trigger shot.

The whole time we are completeting a cycle there are ultrasounds and blood work every 2-3 days, costing 1750.

Clint and I have talked about having a child since the day we met. We picked out names before we were even married. This is something we both truely want.

We are looking for any help that we can get on the financial aspect. Anything you can help us with would be amazing... Be it $5 or $50 we would be so grateful.

Thank you so much for helping us on this journey.
