Our Journey: A Mother’s Request for Help
In 2022, I was diagnosed with terminal mesothelioma, given just 18 months to live. That time is coming to an end, and I’ve been told I have about six months left. My health has declined, and I now need around-the-clock care. My son, who has always been my rock, is now my full-time caregiver.
He does everything for me—managing my medications, helping me move, and making sure I have comfort in these final days. But the burden on him is heavy. With no government assistance available to support his caregiving, he’s left trying to balance caring for me with taking care of his own family of three, all while on EI, which simply isn’t enough.
My daughter Sarah travels back and forth to spend time with me, and while my family does everything they can, it’s not sustainable. The financial strain is growing, and I worry about what will happen when I’m gone and my son has to find work again.
This is why I’m asking for help. We’re seeking $500 a week, for the next six months, to help cover living expenses, replace the income my son has lost, and provide some stability for him after I pass.
Your support would mean the world to me—to know that my son, who has given me everything, is cared for in return.
With love,
Mom
