Urgent: Help for Hospital Staff in NYC

A week ago, a friend who works at an ER in New York City reached out to me asking for personal protective equipment (PPE) donations as they were running out and in desperate need of any help. Unfortunately, this is the story of many hospitals throughout NYC as they are caring for the overwhelming amount of patients with COVID-19. While the government and large companies offered to provide PPE's, the question remains as to how and when the supplies will be delivered. Meanwhile, our healthcare providers are having to reuse their PPE's and many have already gotten sick. The hospital staff are overworked and cannot wait on the promise of supplies.

This is my effort to help in the most honest, transparent way possible. The main focus will be on sending out N95 masks, but other much-needed items including face shields and nitrile gloves will also be given. It's not a long-term solution, but will help alleviate the need until more help arrives. I hope you will join me in this mission. Receipts and photos will be shared!

About Me:

Thuy Tran, OD - I am originally from the SF Bay Area and moved to NYC in 2015. I've volunteered on four medical mission trips abroad and also participated in local charity efforts including the Bowery Mission, Special Olympics and Reading Empowers (reading to disadvantaged children).  I wish that my training as an eye doctor could be more helpful, but like many I am on the sidelines during this pandemic. This is why I decided to volunteer my time and start this gofundme so that together, we can get through this. #hopefornyc
