Hope For Huxley

Huxley Allen Stout was born Thursday May 23rd weighing 7lbs 11.5ozs and 21” long. After a perfect pregnancy and an amazing labor his mommy Kenzie was rushed to the OR for an emergency c-section. When Kenzie’s water broke she suffered umbilical cord prolapse. The cord was trapped against the baby’s body cutting off oxygen. The amazing Dr. Medley and Dr. Kelly along with the team of nurses rushed to save the baby. Without an anesthesiologist at the hospital and no time to lose, Kenzie was operated on using only a local and fentanyl. She remembers every detail and the pain. Kenzie’s trauma was tremendous, but her strength saved her baby. Huxley was born without oxygen. He was quickly resuscitated, but for days we would not know the extent of the damage. Huxley was moved from the hospital in Grants Pass and to the NICU in Medford. He immediately began therapeutic cooling. This is where the baby is put into a cooling blanket for 72 hours to reduce any further swelling and damage to the body and brain. He was also being monitored by an EEG to watch brain activity and to alert them of seizures. On Friday he began experiencing seizures and was put on phenobarbital. He would continue to seize until Saturday when the correct amount of meds were given. On Sunday they began the slow warming process and a MRI was performed that night. On Tuesday the MRI results showed that there is in fact brain damage and Huxley has a 60% chance of having cerebral palsy. Everyday Huxley is improving and making steps into the right direction. We have hope and faith that he will heal, but the road is going to be a long one. We have set up this account with hopes that we can raise enough money to cover two months of bills for Kenzie and Jamison. This will give them time to help their baby heal without the stress of bills. Both these two also need time to recover and adjust to this new life. No amount is too small. We will also be setting up a local donation account and PayPal. (Details to follow)Please keep Huxley, Kenzie, & Jamison in your thoughts and prayers.
