Hope for Hayes

Donation protected
On April 28th, 2018 Don was on his Harley heading to pick up his youngest daughter when he was hit by a motor vehicle resulting in him needing to be transported to Alegent Creighton Bergan Mercy via ambulance for emergency surgery. After he was stabilized, the doctors would inform him that he would need multiple more surgeries to try and save his left leg. In order to save his leg and hopefully regain full function from it, these surgeries are going to consist of plates and screws to repair the bone, multiple cleanings to stop any possibly infections, and numerous skin and muscle grafts to cover the leg. On top of his left leg injury he suffered 4 broken ribs, a dislocated pinky finger, a pneumothorax (collapsed lung), and road rash.

Don Hayes is a father, son, Christ follower, motorcycle rider, and a friend. He is a Texas man who possesses an attitude and heart as big as the state itself. Don belongs to Stonebridge Church where he spends his Sundays lending a hand in offering and is the first one to donate even if times are tough. On Saturdays if he is not at the golf course with his friends he is out doing his favorite hobby, which is riding his motorcycle. When he rides, it is with friends (that he considers his family) down long Nebraska roads and frequently, incorporating fundraisers along his route to help those that need it the most.

Due to the nature of his injuries, Don is now incapable of working for at least a year. Before the accident, Don was a semi-truck driver, which means this road could be longer due to getting in and out of the truck. To make matters worse, his employer just recently informed Don that he soon will be losing his health insurance. Don currently lives alone with his dog gizmo and, until recently, worked overtime just to keep up with bills.

Those closest to Don are now wondering how we can help him through this difficult time. We are setting up this Go-Fund-Me page to help with his medical bills, house payments, and living expenses to make ends meet. With that being said, a trust fund was opened and named after Don, as "Hope for Hayes". All the finances that are donated will go into this trust fund and the money will only go towards bills. At the end of this process if there is any money left over it will be donated to a non-profit organization. As a man of faith he knows there is an end to this road, but worried how he is going to get there without working for a year. In the future we plan to have fundraisers for Don, but right now the bills are currently coming in and according to the lawyers this case may take multiple years to settle.  So we’re asking now if any of you find it in your heart to help Don Hayes pull through this hardship, as he would be ever so grateful. If you’re unable to help financially, we ask that you to send a couple prayers to him and his family during this difficult time.
