My name is Karen and thank you for taking the time to read about my friends Hartie and Jennifer! I first met Hartie about 10 years ago when he started delivering parts to our body shop, and we instantly became friends. When that time of day would roll around for Hartie to deliver our parts, he always came in with a smile on his face and a story to tell. Through the years, Hartie has become one of us, even greeting customers at the front desk like he worked here.
Fast forward to March 1st of 2025 when Hartie and Jennifer tied the knot! It was a beautiful ceremony full of love and laughs! Hartie and Jennifer would embark on their beautiful life together. On the way home from their amazing honeymoon, Hartie started getting sick. He went to the doctor and was sent directly to the hospital. The first hospital stay was 4 nights, with more stays to come. The initial diagnosis was liver disease with more hospital stays since then.
As you can imagine, all of this has been hard on Hartie. He has been off work since March 17th and at this point, we aren't sure if he will be able to return to work or when. Every day is a struggle for him. One minute he can feel okay, then the next minute he is sick in bed for a week. He has no energy or appetite and even struggles to focus, all of which is normal for a liver disease patient.
Fast forward again, this time to May 28th. Hartie and Jennifer had an appointment at the Transplant Center here in town. I won't go into the details on that appointment, but at this time we still don't have any answers. There are some dietary things that need to be changed to see if things improve. Hartie will have to return in about 30 days for some more testing to hopefully get more answers. At this point, the question is still whether Hartie will need a liver transplant.
With that question looming and what the future will hold for Hartie and Jennifer, I am trying to take some of the financial stress off of them. As you can imagine, Jennifer's life has been turned upside down with the man she is going to spend the rest of her life loving being so sick. There is so much uncertainty for Hartie on what his life will look like in the near and distant future, let's all come together to take the financial stress off of them and give #HOPEFORHARTIE!!!
