A Time of Need
On February 20, 2016 a beloved family member, and dear friend to many - Harold Van Winkle, suffered a stroke at the age of 64, just 7 months before qualifying for Medicare. The stroke left Harold paralyzed on his left side and unable to care for himself, with many months of physical therapy ahead. Harold incurred over $200,000 in expenses that will not be covered by health insurance. They say “It takes a village,” so we, as friends are rallying to build “Harold’s Village” to help support his road to recovery.
Harold’s Story
Harold Van Winkle and his wife have been fixtures in Cannon Beach, Oregon for over 15 years. Harold started Cannon Beach Construction in 2002, where he ran a successful business based on quality workmanship and integrity in delivering his services within this beach community. Just take a walk down one of the many public stairways to see the tide pools at Haystack Rock, and you’ll likely be descending a beautiful stairway build by Harold and his crew. Not only did Harold complete City of Cannon Beach construction projects, but he had great relationships with so many community members, families and vacation home owners. Over a decade ago, Harold was instrumental in the remodel of our Cannon Beach house, the construction of our deck and a beautiful courtyard that everyone experiences with delight. He is a Christian man, who is honest, generous, imaginative and always there to help no matter the cost in time or effort. Whatever we can do to help with his recovery is our mission.
