Loving Mother Needs Critical Procedure

About 10 years ago Dana found herself in the hospital for what doctors told her was asthma. An ordinarily healthy woman, who enjoyed being outdoors with her family, was suddenly no longer able to play racquetball with her husband or run around with her two young sons and teenage daughters. With no prior history of asthma or any other medical ailments, Dana's family was at a loss for what could have caused such a sudden and serious condition.

Fast forward to the present and Dana's condition has worsened to the point that she is hospitalized nearly on a monthly basis; being away from her family for a week or more at a time. To make matters worse, the prednisone used to treat her asthma has led to serious muscle and nerve deterioration so that she can no longer drive or walk without the assistance of a cane or wheelchair. It also leaves her with extreme pain caused by the nerve and muscle damage. Merely leaving her house introduces her lungs to smoke, fumes, dander, pollen, and various other allergens that will cause her immediate and intense reactions.

Her doctors have ultimately recommended a Bronchial Thermoplasty, a relatively new procedure, whereby a small catheter is introduced into the bronchial tubes which applies heat to the smooth muscle thereby reducing it and minimizing constriction of the airways. This procedure will greatly lessen the need for steroids. It will be done 5 hours away at Shand's Hospital in Gainesville; so the family will need to travel because it is done three weeks apart in three different stages.

Dana's private insurance will not pay any amount of the procedure so her family is forced to pay for it out of their own pocket. Her husband works very hard to provide for his family and pay for his family's medical costs but cannot afford the surgery without the help of loved ones.

Dana wants to enjoy the simple pleasures that you and I take for granted like being outside in the fresh air, pushing her new granddaughter in a stroller, or merely being able to cook her husband and family a home cooked meal. Please bless Dana and her family by prayerfully considering donating to her fund.
