Kaylah's Hope for Healing

Please meet my dear friend Kaylah. She's a 26 year old wife, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, niece, granddaughter, and FRIEND! Kaylah is unlike any friend I have. She was my first friend when my family and I moved to Columbus 3 years ago. She was so kind and so caring. The first thing I noticed about Kaylah is, she is ALWAYS putting others before herself. She would do little things to help acclimate us to our new home. Introduce us to other couples, kids for our son to befriend, invited us into her home for holidays. I truly never had someone go above and beyond like she did...and continues to do. I unfortunetly have only known Kaylah with her illness. I have watched her battle her sickness for way too long.
Kaylah's health has been an ongoing struggle for most her life but especially over the past four years. She's seen many doctors and a number of specialist over the years. She suffers from a sever overgrowth of candida through out the body, histamine intolerance, food intolerances, and a huge list of food sensitivities. Each of these conditions require a unique diet in order to maintain a normal life style. Unfortunately all of these diets clash leaving Kaylah with a very small handful of foods to eat. Her diet has gradually shrunk over the past few years leaving her now with just a few meats and vegetables to live off of. No carbs, no sugars, not even from fruits. Uncertain of what has brought on these issues and the continual decline has been a huge concern. When I first met Kaylah a few years ago she was sick but still able to work at least part time. She now stays home, to sick to work and some days to weak to hardly even function. She is malnourished and there is great concern in regards to her continued weight loss. Kaylah has dropped from 112 lbs. to now just 86lbs.
She was recently referred to a specialist Dr. Kinodia. Dr. Kinodia came highly recommend by Kaylah's dietitian, as well as a couple others. He is a local MD who studied at Harvard, has been featured on shows like The Doctors and CNN, and is currently practicing functional medicine. After reviewing Kaylah's life history, back ground, medical history, and symptoms,he has given her a diagnosis of mold toxicity. He was able to give a medical description of how exposure to mold was the likely cause of the multiple conditions Kaylah has developed over time. We didn't even know mold could live in the human body! While this is a creepy thought, it makes complete sense and brings much clarity to her current condition. Dr. Kinodia has recommended Kaylah see a doctor who specializes in mold toxicity as it is rare and requires both specific testing to confirm his diagnosis and specific treatment as it is not easy to care for. Due to her current state of malnutrition, he has also recommended allergy laser treatment to help with some of the sensitivities, in hopes to get her eating some more foods, and IV therapy to give her body the nutrients needed until it can begin to heal and starts properly excepting food again.
These doctors and procedures will NOT be covered by insurance. Kaylah will have to travel out of state for appointments with the mold specialist. The many test, treatments, and the care to follow will be very costly.
Kaylah's husband Jordan has had to become their sole source of income as she is no longer able to work. He is currently working 60 hours a week to keep them afloat and cover her medical expenses. Both her dietitian and Dr. Kinodia has all been out of pocket as well. The two have only been married a year and Jordan has continued to care for her through this all. He's a pretty special guy.
For the first time in years Kaylah is finally getting some answers and if she can get this help, she has a chance at some day living a full and more normal life, having children, raising a family, and showing her husband for the first time that she really can play basketball. Jordan has never known a healthy, active Kaylah and she so badly wants to share that side with him.
She lives a life controlled by aching, pain, stiffness, weakness, inflammation throughout the entire body, chronic fatigue, bouts of depression (as anyone in her situation would) headaches, nausea, and stomach issues upon eating most foods, skin conditions, chronic sinus issues, and the list of symptoms continues. The affects of these multiple conditions and restrictions go beyond what anyone would ever imagine upon meeting her. She is more than just another number. She's someone's family, she's our friend. She's suffered long enough.
It has been in my heart for the last couple years to help Kaylah find answers and with the help of social media, I truly feel like this is a great outlet. We truly feel like we are FINALLY heading in the right direction but unfortunetly, this is going to cost a lot for Kaylah and Jordan. So, I am asking you to give whatever the Lord lays on your heart. No amount is too small and whatever you are able to give, will tremendously help Kaylah.Be apart of our journey. Help us on the sidelines cheer Kaylah on.
We will keep you up to date over time as things progress.
Your donations are a blessing and we are so grateful for your support.
