After experiencing difficulty swallowing and keeping food down after meals, I thought I should see a doctor. As far as I knew they'd tell me it was bronchitis and I'd go home with some antibiotics. Little did I know, there was something else that was threatening my well being.
As of this fall, I have been diagnosed with Stage 2 Esophageal Cancer.

My faith is strong and my hopes are high. I will survive, but I won't just survive. I'm not done living. I love life. It's wonderful. I have a husband who loves me, three beautiful daughters and two adorable grandchildren that are my pride and joy. I love to laugh and I love people.
God gives me the strength to fight this disease and withstand the effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. My doctor prays for me and I pray for my doctor! I'm thankful for my medical team who have been a major blessing.

Their plan is to be aggressive in treatment, even though I'm also anemic and have required multiple iron infusions already. My calendar is full of chemotherapy and radiation appointments for the rest of the holiday season. The goal is to reduce the size of the tumor so that there is less cancer and more of me left to operate on! My surgery isn't scheduled until January 2016, but I've already began a collection of billing statements for the costs of my treatment so far. For the last 5 years I've spent a lot of time caring for my uncle and my brother. I feel obligated to help others before myself. It's who I've always been and it's who I will remain. That's why it's been difficult to ask for help. But here I am. Thank you for your help, both in prayer and in donation.
