Please support safe shelter and basic needs for medically vulnerable people experiencing homelessness!
Up to sixty of Vallejo's medically vulnerable unstably housed individuals will find themselves without shelter come January 5th, 2022. We are seeking support to develop and maintain a safe camping site to provide some stability for this displaced population while we work to develop more sustainable, long term transitional housing options.
As California's Project RoomKey(PRK) comes to an end, we face a dire situation of housing. While active, PRK provided hotel rooms for medically frail people experiencing homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the end to the Vallejo project will see sixty people suddenly without any permanent housing option. There simply is not enough housing available to place everyone.
4th Second, through it's street outreach team, Vallejo Mobile Health, has been part of the service team onsite since May of 2020, and we are committed to ensuring some level of stability for the participants upon PRK's ending. Working with local non-profits Vallejo Together Fighting Back Partnership and One Love Center for Health, we are creating a safe camping site for people without homes, with priority to the displaced PRK residents. While not the ideal situation, providing a location where stability and security is assured and where social, mental health, substance abuse, and medical services are provided will provide a better and more hopeful alternative to everyone dispersing and fending for themselves.
Donating to this campaign will ensure the participants' daily needs will be met in a safe, clean, and supportive environment with wrap-around services designed to support wellness and a move towards permanent housing.
Examples of items donations will cover:
Sleeping bag for 1 person: $10
Sleeping mat for 1 person: $15
Access to bathrooms for 1 person: $20 per month

Hope Village is the first step in 4th Second's UpHousing project which aims to move people experiencing homelessness up the housing ladder. The next step is to develop a more sustainable transitional housing village with wrap around services to provide the stability and navigation support to transition people into permanent housing. 4th Second and its partners currently have over 100 units of permanently affordable housing in predevelopment in Vallejo, Ca. Hope Village will provide critical stability and safety for Vallejo's medically vulnerable people experiencing homelessness to bridge the gap between displacement from Project RoomKey and availability of permanent housing.
