Hope Springs Eternal, Manuel's Fight Against Lymphoma

I am humbly reaching out to family, friends and compassionate souls in hope of raising funds to help cover substantial critical medical expenses and out-of pocket costs associated with my brother-in-law Manuel's condition placing a significant strain on his family.

My brother-in-law Manuel from Odessa, Texas travelled to the Philippines in 2022 to meet his love & marry my younger sister Kaycee, who's a nurse, after a 3-year long distance relationship. Went back to the US after 2 months of spending intimate bonding w/ my sister, but decided to leave work and the US indefinitely after knowing my sister got pregnant. He wanted to be w/ her throughout the course of pregnacy and giving birth. His goal was to bring his wife and newborn baby boy, Manu, here in the US. The embassy spousal visa approval took longer than expected. My sister got pregnant with their second baby. A strong believer of God and grew up from a strict Catholic household, Manuel continued to pray and determined of his goal. On Nov. 2024, my sister finally got an embassy interview schedule. He was overwhelmingly happy and grateful for answered prayers. On that same month, on Nov. 16, before the embassy interview sched, he complained of backpain, numbness on his lips and enlarged lymph nodes behind his ears. He was hospitalized in one of the private hospitals in Dumaguete for 2 wks. and doctors were suspicious of blood cancer according to the lab results. He was then transferred to another higher level hospital ICU to do more testing and treatment and was diagnosed of Diffused Large B-cell Non-hodgkin's Lymphoma. My sister's visa embassy interview got moved since Manuel was in the ICU for dialysis (kidneys got affected), daily blood transfusions, Leukapheresis and more. Despite his critical condition, he convinced Kaycee to fly to Manila for the interview and not delay it further. He knew how sick he was and his ultimate goal was to come back here in the US to bring his own family and meet the rest of the family. Family and friends took turns in watching Manuel and baby Manu. My sister's immigrant visa got approved and Manuel was stable enough to fly a 2-hour plane ride to transfer to another hospital in Manila while waiting for Kaycee's visa release. But doctors strongly suggested that he has to fly to the US for further treatment as soon as possible. With heavy heart, he agreed to fly ahead to the US since Kaycee's visa wasn't released yet. After 3 airport trips and 3 airline denials to fly since he was so sick, he made it to US soil on Dec. 28 from Manila to San Francisco (12-hr flight), from the airport, his parents brought him directly to Kaiser hosp-SF where he got his 1st chemo. With God's help, my 7-month pregnant sister w/ her 18-month old son made it to the US on Jan.14 and reunited w/ her husband. Manuel got discharged from Kaiser and made it home to Odessa. His treatment journey continued in Odessa hospital and was able to spend precious moments w/ the whole family. Then another setback, he complained of backpain, severe headaches, and family noticed mild confusion. Scans were negative. Lumbar function was done, result was negative but a large hematoma resulted on his back. He then was referred to one hospital in Midland and eventually to Baylor Scott & White T. Boone Pickens Cancer Hospital in Dallas last Feb.2. He restarted chemo and labs improving well until Feb. 5 when his condition started to decline and needed to be intubated. He's been on a ventilator since then, CRRT( continuous renal replacement therapy), multiple drips for sedation, pressors, antibiotics, 3-in-1 TPN, daily bags of platelet and rbc transfusion, NG, artline, power port, picc line and so on. He will make a minor improvement today, the next day complications arise....it's an emotional roller coaster. Manuel is a 30-yr old happy soul who found his true love from the other part of the world, a proud dad of an 18-month old baby boy and they have a baby boy coming in a month (my sister is due mid March.). He is in a very critical condition and medical team are all trying their best but in the end, this is Manuel's own battle w/ God. Him and his family needs a lot of prayers and support.
As we may know, the cost of treatment and related expenses are significant and unfortunately, beyond their current financial capabilities. Any contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated and would make a big difference.
