Hope for Our Family's Future

I am Ibrahim, the eldest brother of the Abu Qumbuz family. Today, I write to you with a heart heavy with worries and sorrows, yet filled with hope. My family in Gaza is suffering from the wounds of war and has endured the burden of displacement time and again. I appeal to you today for your assistance in this ordeal.

Amid war and destruction lies the story of my family, a tale of resilience and hope. My family consists of my mother Suha and my younger siblings: Asma (19 years old), Noor (18 years old), Saad (16 years old), Basema (13 years old), and Mohammed (10 years old). After rebuilding our home which was destroyed in the 2014 Gaza war, we faced a new tragedy during the ongoing war that has lasted for over 4 months since 2023. Once again, our dreams were shattered by the destruction of our home, necessitating our displacement from the Shuja'iyya neighborhood.

Our first displacement journey began in the first week of the war, moving to our grandparents' house in the Zeitoun area. After two weeks, we were forced to be displaced again to the Nuseirat area, in the middle of the Gaza Strip, staying at a friend's house. This stay was short-lived, as after a week, we were forced to move for the third time to a school in the central area. However, safety was fleeting, as the surrounding area of the school was threatened by the Israeli army, forcing us to displace for the fourth time an area claimed to be safe in Khan Yunis, the Mawasi region.

In this area, we set up a small tent and lived there for more than a month. My mother faced immense challenges in providing daily expenses and our basic necessities amid the high cost of food and difficulty in obtaining it, especially with the absence of my father who is stuck in the West Bank. With great courage, she started a small project selling traditional Gazan sweets to meet our needs. However, over time, we were threatened and forced to displace again to Rafah.

Today, we reside in a small tent near the Egyptian border, facing a life filled with challenges. With the ongoing conflict, opportunities for education and normal life have faded away. Our only hope is to move to Egypt and then to turkey to continue our children's education and build a better future.

To achieve this goal, we need a specific amount of money to cover the costs of travel and living. The financial details are as follows:

For each person, we need $5,000.

5,000X6 = 30,000 us$

In addition, there are normal travel expenses and initial housing costs to ensure my family's safe arrival in Egypt, followed by purchasing flight tickets & visa to Turkey and renting a house for 6 months, estimated at ≈ us$15,000.

In total, we need approximately ≈ us$45,000 to help our family through this challenging journey.
