After over 40 years of providing reproductive healthcare in Shreveport, Louisiana, Hope Medical Group for Women (a.k.a. June Medical Services) is hoping to move to another state to continue providing safe, legal abortion care to people in need.
We are helping Hope Medical rehome the existing clinic to a new facility out of state. They are identifying a new location and will need funds to secure and renovate a building, and relocate staff and equipment.
Since 1980, Hope Medical Group has directly served the people of the rural South by providing critical medical care.
They have also protected the rights of others far beyond the region by regularly fighting legal battles on behalf of all abortion providers, up to and including the Supreme Court of the United States.
They have always stood firm for reproductive justice while facing violent protesters, threats, and personal attacks.
Now, Hope Medical is hoping to move to another location - one that will allow them to continue providing abortion care to women in Louisiana and throughout the South. It will also let them continue the legal challenges to unjust laws, preserving access for many people.
This is a difficult decision for the clinic, but it will allow them to continue to serve people who need access to abortion care.
The staff at Hope Medical have always been committed to serving patients, and that commitment will not end now.
Hope Medical has always operated as an independent clinic. They are a small business serving local people with tailored, compassionate care. “Indy clinics” bear the brunt of anti-abortion legislation and harassment, but do not have the financial resources of large national, corporate abortion providers.
Our group of dedicated local clinic supporters, patient escorts, and abortion rights advocates created this fundraiser to support Hope Medical's relocation. We made this decision because we know firsthand that Hope Medical Group will continue to provide quality care and service to patients - and this work is crucial in the post-Roe world.
The Supreme Court and anti-choice zealots want to put abortion out of reach for as many people as possible.
While there is work to do across many fronts, helping Hope Medical relocate is something we can do that will help people today.
Please donate as much as you can.
