Our dear friend Scottie is courageously facing Plasmablastic Lymphoma (EBV-positive) — a rare and aggressive form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that has returned for a second time. It’s a diagnosis with sobering statistics, but here’s the truth: Scottie has never been the kind of person to let numbers define him. He faces life with humor, kindness, and grit — and he’s determined to meet this challenge with the same spirit.
Now, as treatment begins again, his doctors hope this round of chemotherapy will make him eligible for a bone marrow transplant. The road ahead is uncertain, but Scottie’s resolve and the love of his community will carry him further than any statistic could predict.
Scottie is the kind of friend who can make you laugh with a slightly awkward joke, who notices the good in others, and who shows love in ways big and small. Now, as his health forces him to step back from work and daily life, it’s our turn to show up for him.
For me, this friendship is one of the most meaningful parts of my life. At first, we were both too awkward and hesitant to imagine being close friends — but once we gave it a chance, everything clicked. Since then, Scottie has become family to me, someone I cherish deeply. I’ve seen him fight this battle once before and come out victorious, though I also saw how much it took from him. Now that he’s facing it again, I’ve promised myself I’ll be there however I can — whether it’s cheering him on, sneaking in food, making him laugh, or simply sitting by his side.
I love my friend, and I’ll do whatever I can to make this journey a little lighter so he can focus on healing and hope. If you’re able to give, please know that every donation, every share, and every kind word makes a difference. From the bottom of my heart, thank you — and I know Scottie thanks you too.
