On behalf of our beloved sister, we want to share with you her story:
In the heart of Gaza, where the pain of war intertwines with the hope of survival, Hala Altayyeb stands with her husband Hazem Altayyeb and their children Abdullah and Jala, facing the daily challenges of life that never seem to end. With each passing day, the hope for a better tomorrow is the only strength that keeps them going.
The story began in Northern Gaza, where the family lived a modest life, and Hazem worked as a project coordinator for a local organization. They were doing their best to provide a stable life for their family. However, when the war broke out, their lives were turned upside down. Their own home was bombed, and they were forced to flee. They initially displaced to Gaza City, where they found a house that was barely standing after the bombing.
It wasn’t much, but it was the only place they could find in a city overwhelmed by destruction. They had no other place to go. But even there, the situation was dire, and soon, they were forced to move again.
The family’s second displacement took them to Deir al-Balah in Southern Gaza, where the situation was slightly safer but still extremely difficult. There, they struggled to find a place to rent. After much hardship, they eventually managed to secure a small house. However, the monthly rent of 3500 shekels (a little over 1000 USD) is an amount they can barely afford. The financial burden continues to grow, and to help cover some of the costs, they decided to take in another displaced family and live together in the cramped space.
Securing food and medicine has proven just as challenging. Prices have skyrocketed due to the scarcity of resources entering Gaza, making it extremely difficult to provide enough food for the family. The monthly food cost for the family amounts to around 600 USD, a sum that has become a significant burden given their dwindling financial resources.
Additionally, Hazem lost his job, and they now depend entirely on limited aid, which is insufficient to cover their basic needs.
In these dire circumstances, Hala decided to launch a fundraising campaign through GoFundMe, seeking urgent financial support to meet their basic needs for food, rent, and medicine.
In her message, Hala shares the emotional weight she carries: "I am a mother, and every day I see my children’s faces, I feel a deep sorrow that I cannot give them the life they deserve. I long to see them in school, to see them have a future full of hope and opportunity like any other child. But every day, I watch them struggle with the harsh realities of life here. We are living in a world where I cannot even guarantee them enough food, let alone a proper education. The pain of not being able to provide the life they deserve is unbearable. I am asking for your help not just to survive today, but to give my children the hope of a better tomorrow."
The family’s basic needs are:
• Rent: Covering the monthly rent of 3500 shekels (around 1,000 USD), which has become a significant burden and is impossible for them to afford on their own.
• Food: Securing enough food for the family, with the monthly cost of food being around 600 USD.
Despite the overwhelming difficulties, Hala and Hazem have not lost hope. They remain firm in their belief that help will come, and it will give them the chance to rebuild their lives away from the horrors of war.
Your donations can make a real difference in their lives. You are a part of the hope they need to continue surviving and living with dignity amid these challenging times.
