Hope in Healing: Supporting Nino's Medical Journey

Hello, my name is Nourhene, and I'm 22 years old. I'm from Tunisia. My family has made sacrifices for me to live my dream of studying abroad. In an emergency, I had to come back to Tunisia

I learned in my stay in Canada that I had developed stage 3 going to stage 4 lymphoblastic B-cell cancer. In a matter of a few days, the world that I have known has collapsed, and I have been forced to adapt to my new bittersweet reality. When this happened, I realized that God was preparing for it. I realized all the hardships that I've been through were necessary for me to be able to endure this.

I find it sweet that I reunited with my family that I missed dearly and got the chance to meet lovely souls going through the same hardships as I am, and yet it’s bitter all the same. Right now, I'm struggling with covering rent and my medical expenses, as I and my mother and younger sister rely fully on these funds.

For my medical expenses, I’m short on medication and testing/cbc costs. I had two incidents at the hospital where I had second degree chemical burns from medical errors while inserting IV for chemotherapy. I am unable to cover these expenses as I can’t work while taking chemotherapy. I am currently in the process of my second round attempt, where my first one failed due to an unsuitable environment. As a result, I was admitted to the hospital in an emergency for my second round of attempts.

My mother and I have rented a small apartment big enough for three to hopefully create a better environment for them and for myself when I return. But I find myself unable to sleep and rest at ease, in fear for my mother and sister. They don’t have anyone to rely on while I’m staying at the hospital, but I would be relieved knowing they at least have a roof above their heads; hence, I’ll use the funds to cover the rent as well.

I am facing one of the toughest battles of my life. However, I refuse to let this disease dictate my future. With your support, I can access the treatments and resources necessary to fight back against cancer and pursue a path towards recovery.
