Hope & Help: Steve, Patti, Family Navigate Pancreatic Cancer
Supporting Steve and Patti During His Journey with Pancreatic Cancer
In July 2024, at just 52 years old, Steve was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, less than 6 months after Patti was cleared of hers. Since then, Steve has undergone an initial four rounds of chemotherapy. Unfortunately, these treatments have led to several serious health crises with limited success, and the disease has continued to progress.
Now, Steve faces a critical moment in his fight. There is only one remaining chemotherapy option that could potentially extend his life and give him the precious gift of more time with his family. However, the Ontario government does not cover one of the important drugs in this regimen. While doctors advocate for partial subsidies, the approval process could delay treatment—any delay risks further cancer progression, which could disqualify Steve from receiving this life-extending therapy.
The cost of the uncovered portion of the treatment is approximately $24,000 for just four weeks. This cost combined with the financial strain of both Steve and Patti being on work leave, benefit caps, and other treatment-related expenses, has become overwhelming for their family.
We have created this GoFundMe campaign to ensure Steve can access treatment without delay and to help alleviate the immense financial and emotional burden on his family during this incredibly challenging time.
Please consider donating to support Steve, Patti, and their family if possible. Your generosity can provide hope, time, and relief when they need it most.
