Hope, Health and Contingency for Louis Decker

Donation protected
UPDATE: Sadly, Louis was unable to get a transplant due to advanced kidney failure that made him no longer a suitable candidate. He was moved to hospice care at The Heights of Gonzales on Saturday, July 23, and passed away early Wednesday, July 27, at the age of 44.

He loved all of you very much and was appreciative and thankful for all of the support and love shown to him in his final days. This fund is being used to pay his final expenses and then will be used to set up a trust fund for his beloved grandsons for their future needs.

We will keep it open for a while in case anyone else wishes to donate to the fund. Thank you again for all of your kindness to our friend, colleague and brother.

Our good friend and co-worker Louis Decker has received devastating news: he must have a liver transplant very soon.

As a result of this diagnosis and his hospitalization, Louis has had to resign from the Gonzales Inquirer due to medically being unable to work. He is currently hospitalized in San Antonio, awaiting a transplant. He needs help and he needs it right away.

Louis will need help with financial expenses. If he is successful in receiving a transplant, he will need to be able to afford a place to stay in San Antonio so he is near the hospital in case of organ rejection. He will also need caretakers to watch him to make sure he does not have a medical emergency.

If Louis is not able to have a transplant, he will need help with final expenses and taking care of his family.

For nearly three decades, Louis "Lou" Decker has been there for Gonzales families to celebrate and record their milestones and achievements, from pre-K to Little League to middle school and high school exploits and beyond. He has written for the Gonzales Inquirer and he has umpired youth sports throughout the area. He's been a part of your family for all these years; let's try to help our brother in need!
