Hi everyone,
This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write.
My husband has been fighting through the exhausting reality of kidney disease and dialysis, a journey that has changed every part of our lives. What many people don’t see are the quiet moments behind the scenes: the physical exhaustion after treatments, the headaches, weakness, low blood pressure episodes, sleepless nights, dietary restrictions, emotional strain, and the constant uncertainty that comes with living treatment to treatment.
Dialysis keeps him alive, but it has also taken so much from him.
There are days when simply standing up takes strength. Days where fatigue steals his energy, where pain and discomfort make it difficult to enjoy even the smallest moments. Watching someone you love suffer while trying to stay strong is heartbreaking beyond words.
Through all of this, he continues to fight with courage and grace.
I also want to be honest and say that creating this fundraiser is incredibly difficult and emotional for me. I have never been someone who asks for help. We have always tried to handle everything on our own, privately and with dignity, even during the hardest moments.
But this journey has humbled us in ways I cannot fully describe.
Watching the person you love suffer day after day changes you. There comes a point where love becomes bigger than pride, and you realize you have to reach out and allow others to stand beside you.
As hard as this is for me, I am asking with all my heart for help supporting my husband through this battle.
As we continue preparing for transplant and searching for ways to support his healing and quality of life, we have been researching a hydrogen inhalation therapy machine from Japan that many patients use as a complementary wellness therapy alongside their medical care. Our hope is that it may help support comfort, recovery, inflammation management, and overall well-being during dialysis and eventually post-transplant recovery.
Unfortunately, the machine costs approximately $33,000, which is far beyond what we can manage after the overwhelming medical and life expenses we’ve already faced throughout this journey.
If you are able to donate, share, or even simply keep our family in your prayers, it would mean more than we can express. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to giving him additional support, comfort, and hope during this incredibly difficult chapter.
More than anything, we just want a chance to help him feel better… to give him more good days, more strength, and more moments where he can simply feel like himself again.
Thank you for reading our story, for your kindness, and for standing beside us.
With love and gratitude,
Martha & Family
