Many of you already know our son, Ryan. He’s a familiar face, a hard worker, and someone who has always shown up for others. During the last 24 hours, many of you have reached out asking if we were starting a GoFundMe—so with humility and gratitude, we are sharing Ryan’s story.
On January 21st, Ryan was involved in a devastating motorcycle vs. motor vehicle hit-and-run accident. The injuries he sustained are serious and life-altering. He is currently hospitalized and faces a long road ahead. Doctors anticipate he will remain in the hospital for a lengthy amount of time, followed by extensive rehabilitation. He will also be undergoing additional surgical procedures in the days and weeks ahead.
Despite the severity of his injuries, Ryan was able to call 911 on his own after the accident. Responding officers later shared that his ability to remain conscious and make that call in those critical moments ultimately saved his life. Had he not been able to reach out for help when he did, the outcome could have been very different. We are incredibly grateful for his presence of mind and strength in the face of such trauma.
Starting this fundraiser was not an easy decision, but we have been deeply moved by the love, prayers, and messages from our community asking how they can help. As a family, we are doing everything we can to support Ryan through this unimaginable situation.
Ryan does not have medical insurance. As you can imagine, the medical bills are already overwhelming and will continue to grow as his treatment, surgeries, rehabilitation, and long-term needs unfold. In time, he will also require a prosthesis and accommodations to allow him to regain independence, including the ability to drive again.
If you are able to donate, share this page, or keep Ryan in your prayers, please know that every act of support means more than words can express. Your kindness will help ease the burden and allow Ryan to focus on healing.
Thank you for surrounding Ryan and our family with so much love during this incredibly difficult time.
With our love and gratitude,
The Thomas Family
Jennifer, Timmy, Megan, and Brandon
