Hope had COPD. Now got DOUBLE lung transplant.
Some of you may already know this, but for those of you who don’t, back in 2013 my mother was diagnosed with COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) Fast forward to 2016, my mother caught pneumonia and the flu. She nearly died. This has rapidly progressed into stage four COPD, which is the worst stage of this disease. When COVID hit the U.S., her doctors told us that if she contracted COVID, she would not survive. in January 2021, both of my parents contracted COVID. It was a long road but my mom has beaten the odds. She is a true superhero. Upon her next Cleveland Clinic visit she was told COVID had devastated her lungs and she was now qualified to be put on the lung transplant list. We were told she would not hear anything for at least 3-6 months regarding a donor. But just three short weeks we got her call for a DOUBLE lung transplant on June 18th 2021 at 7am. The true reason for this post today is to say that we were not adequately prepared for such a major adjustment so soon. We thank God for this this incredible miracle but we are also concerned with the many trips going back-and-forth to Cleveland Clinic and missing work. Everything is just adding up so quickly with the extra expense all at once. Today, however, we need your help. I cannot express how much this means to my family and I. My mother is the glue that holds us all together. I cannot imagine life with out her. Our immediate family is helping as much as they can. God is so Good. And we are so grateful for so much. I am asking you to help our family. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help. Thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy post. Hug your mama today. God Bless.
