Every year hundreds of middle and high school students all over the country prepare to take trips to cities like Chicago, New York, Toronto and Washington D.C. at the end of the school year. However, not often enough are African American youth in our city are afforded the opportunity to gain the richness that field trips provide our bright minds as they engage content, skill and talent. Our children deserve the opportunity to explore our country just as much as any other student does. Finances should be the least of their worries.
This will be the experience of a lifetime! Our children will see and learn the history of infamous monuments such as the Washington Monument and the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial. Our youth will be able to stand in the same spot that Dr. King stood in as he gave his infamous, “I Have A Dream Speech”. Another stop on our journey will be to the newly created African American Museum of History and Culture and the off to a yacht boat dinner cruise on the Potomac River. We will even get an opportunity to visit one of our nation’s premiere universities, the HBCU Howard University!
