Hope Fund for Sebastien
Saturday morning Sebastien woke up completely paralyzed. I brought him in for an emergency surgery. I am fortunate enough to have pet insurance and they will be covering a good chunk of his surgery.. however they do not cover the hospital stay or taxes. It is still going to cost me a lot, as his estimate is already exceeding 12,000$
I understand that times are hard for all of us these days but any donations would be greatly appreciated.
I truly believe my boy is a fighter! And he is going to get through this. Please send all of your positive vibes, prayers and love our way ❤️
A little back story...
About three years ago, my sweet boy was diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) At that time, he still seemed somewhat comfortable and I came to an agreement with his neurologist that we will treat him with strict rest and anti inflammatory medication. This was still a battle that included weekly trips to laser therapy, as well as acupuncture and many osteo-therapy appointments in between. But I do believe he was able to live a very happy life travelling the world with me as my ESA for the following three years ❤️
Saturday morning my sweet boy woke up unable to use his hind legs and with complete loss of continence (pooping and peeing uncontrollably) By now, being very well educated on IVDD I knew that time was precious and I had to act to make the decision to bring him in for surgery.
I knew sending him in to surgery that there were many risks and complications that could arise but I still truly believe this was the best chance at him ever walking on his own again.
Here we are three days later.. Neurologically things are looking a little brighter, he has even shown some movement in one of his rear legs! But unfortunately he has developed a severe case of acute pneumonia and at this time he can not breathe without some oxygen therapy. He will be staying at least a few more days until he starts to heal. Praying for some positive news in the morning ❤️
**Bash update**
So happy to have not received a phone call through the night! I woke up thinking to my self “No news is always good news right!?”
Spoke with the vet this morning, things are looking a little brighter! He only regurgitated once throughout the evening which is great news because as long as no more fluid goes into his lungs the antibiotics will start to do their job! They saw a small decrease in the pneumonia.. not a big percent but it is still something positive!
On the neurological side of things it seems as though he might have a slight control of his continence he is not pooping uncontrollably any more and only pees when you apply pressure on him. He is also trying to sit up when he is awake!
Starting to feel so much more positive about everything ❤️ I even got to face time him for a quick minute! He is really out of it but they will let me try again in the morning ❤️
