*UPDATE 10/26/22 - Ken is going to LIVE! He is making positive progress, and was conscious this morning and able to speak "I love you" to his wife Michelle! We don't know what the next steps will be on his road to recovery, but we are continuing to hope, pray, and believe for full restoration!*
Ken Berta, local Texas father of 3, husband, and small business owner, has poured into his community as a leader and advocate for decades. Those who know Ken know that he is always ready with an easy laugh, a great listener, and a man of steadfastness.
However, on Saturday 10/22/2022 about 1am, the unthinkable happened. Ken (a healthy and active man) suffered a massive heart attack and was rushed to the hospital and placed in the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.
An active member of his community, Ken has been a part of the Red Oak Chamber for many years, and resides with his wife, Michelle, near the border of Glenn Heights and Red Oak, TX. However, as a self-employed man, insurance cost is high, and coverage is minimal.
The last thing anyone deserves to think about when facing a crisis like this is money to pay for the life-saving care their loved one needs. So Ken and Michelle need us – their community – to rally around them for support. Thank you each for helping today.
- First – they need your PRAYERS – for Ken, for their family, and all those whose lives Ken has touched. We believe in a God of miracles, and that through the authority of the redemptive blood of Jesus, Ken can be completely healed!
- Second – please contribute financially to support the Berta’s in as meaningful a way as you are able. We are so grateful that he has shown positive signs, yet the road ahead could be a long one. They will not only have medical expenses to contend with but also lost work time as Ken is the owner-operator of his company. A gift of any amount would go a long way.
- Lastly – hope with them. This is not the same thing as prayer, but is a key of the heart of our Lord. “We know that all things work for the good of them that love God, who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28) We do not know the reasons this is happening. It is an awful thing. However, please join us in HOPE. Let’s be a light for Ken, Michelle, and their family together!
I want to be clear: The family was very hesitant to let this message go out. This was not their idea. They are GIVERS themselves, and never ask for anything from anyone. However, we made it clear that we *as their community* want the opportunity to pour back to them what they give freely to so many others.
Also – as the family is going through this season, they have asked for privacy and not to be contacted directly. The immediate family has gathered from all over the country to be together, and weather this storm. Please direct any inquiries via comment on this page, or via his Caring Bridge site where we are sharing timely updates and more information: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/kenbertatx
Thank you for your help and support! 100% of the funds received will go to the family to help cover the expenses being incurred during this time.
