In September, our beautiful Tam was diagnosed with a large tumour inside her spinal cord. Surgeons acted quickly to remove it, and the operation quite literally saved her life. However, during the delicate procedure, the nerves in her spine were affected.

Tam is now in hospital and requires assistance with almost everything; walking, feeding, personal care and daily tasks. She is currently in intensive rehabilitation, working incredibly hard every day to regain movement and strength. The medical team have said recovery is looking positive, but not guaranteed. As a family, we are choosing to stay hopeful and take each day as it comes.

Matt has been supporting Tam in every moment; helping her eat, washing her hair, scratching her nose when she can’t, and advocating for her care. He is also doing everything for their three children (15, 11 and 8): school runs, homework, dinners, emotional comfort, all while trying to keep life steady and safe for them.

Because Matt cannot work right now, the family’s immediate challenge is simply the cost of living. With their child’s 12th birthday approaching and Christmas coming soon, we want to make sure the kids still feel joy and stability during such a big change in their lives.
