Hi all, my name is Ashley and I am a 39 year old mother of two vibrant, active little boys and wife to an amazing compassionate man. Three years ago I suffered an injury to my head and neck that has turned my world upside down when I foolishly attempted a cart wheel on the beach and landed on my head/neck. That evening I started throwing up and now three years later things have become more serious. From that moment on I have never been “me” again. Since that cart wheel gone wrong, I have been living in a state of confusion/dizzy, nauseous, suffering dramatic memory loss, neck pain, headaches, extreme fatigue, loss of strength in my legs and arms, blurry vision. For the past five months, I have pretty much been living on the couch unable to care for my cute family. I have discovered after many doctor visits and tests that I have torn the ligaments in my neck which attach the skull to the spinal column, cervical cranial instability is the actual diagnosis, which comes with brainstem impingement, blood flow loss to the cerebellum and Chiari malformation. I am in need of surgery to stabilize my C1 and C2 vertebrae. Surgery will run around 65,000 to 70,000 and I have no health insurance.
I feel silly for setting up this fundraiser, but I am just to the point of desperation I really would like my life back and to be able to get back to being the best mom for my kids that I can. Thank you for reading my story.
