Steven has been diagnosed with MLD disease. MLD is an aggressive progressive neurodegenerative disease. After an of onset of symptoms a person usually has 3-6 years before complete loss of motor and cognitive skills, they live for a few more years in a vegetative state. There previously has been no treatment but we did find a recently FDA approved treatment that tends to have high success. The treatment is $4.2 million and we will be traveling to CHOP hospital on April 6th to start treatment on April 13th. We are looking for any and all support we can get at this time. Steven was named after his paternal grandfather, Steven E. Bauer who was killed in the line of duty in Miami, 1992. My name is Caitlin Bauer the mother of Steven. We will be using these funds to pay for medical expenses along his MLD treatment journey, for traveling expenses to get to Philly, for adaptation equipment as Steven's medical journey shifts, and any expenses related to his medical care journey. As Steven's mother I will be managing these funds and making sure his expenses are taken care of during treatment.
