Hi, we’re Chelsea and Tom, and we’re reaching out with heavy hearts to ask for your help.
On Saturday 21st June, our sweet girl Posie (just 3 years old as of 13th June) inhaled a grass seed (foxtail) through her nostril — right before Tom's eyes. He tried to grab it, but with every sneeze she took, it was sucked further in. We rushed her straight to our local vets, where they attempted surgery. Sadly, due to Posie’s small size and the tricky shape of the foxtail, they weren’t able to remove it. The surgery alone cost nearly £400, and we’re no closer to solving the issue.
We’ve now been urgently referred to a specialist clinic (Southern Counties Veterinary Specialists) where Posie has a consultation and investigations scheduled for tomorrow. The consultation is £300, and the investigations are expected to cost between £2,000 and £3,500. If surgery is required - which is likely - we’ve been told it could cost an additional £10,000, depending on complexity.
While there’s a slim chance the seed could dislodge itself through sneezing, coughing, or being swallowed, there’s a real danger it could migrate to her lungs or brain, which could be fatal.
We’re absolutely devastated. Posie is still just a baby, full of life, love, and energy — she deserves every chance to grow old with us and her sisters. Not having insurance is the hardest and most painful lesson I’ll ever learn, and it’s why we’re now asking for your help.
Every single penny helps, and even if you can’t donate, sharing this with others would mean the world to us.
Thank you so much for reading, caring, and supporting our girl, Posie.
With love and hope,
Chelsea, Tom & Posie
