I never imagined I’d be writing this, but our sweet girl Nova gave us the scare of our lives.

Out of nowhere, Nova had a full-blown neurologic event, she lost control of her body, couldn’t walk, and seemed confused and terrified. We rushed her to the emergency vet, certain we were about to lose her.

Thankfully, Nova pulled through the crisis that night after being hospitalized, but she hasn’t been the same since. She’s still dealing with a constant head tilt, balance issues, and ear discomfort, and we still don’t know what caused the episode. The emergency visit ruled out some things, but her doctors believe we need to see a neurologist urgently. She’ll likely need advanced imaging like an MRI (and possibly a spinal tap) to find out what’s going on and how we can help her heal.

Nova is only 5 she’s normally the happiest, most playful cat. She greets us at the door, plays with her favorite toys, and is always snuggling up when we least expect it. Seeing her struggle like this and not having answers yet has been heartbreaking.

The emergency vet bills have already added up fast, and the upcoming neurologist visit, MRI, and treatments will be thousands of dollars more. We want to do everything we can to give Nova the best chance at recovery.
