Recently, my family fell victim to a heartbreaking scam. Someone contacted my parents, convincing them that their daughter was in jail and in urgent trouble and the only way to help me was to bail me out. Out of fear and concern, they handed over a significant portion of their savings in person, thinking they were helping me, only to later discover it was not true.

It breaks my heart to see this happen to my mom and dad—the humiliation they face because they thought they were doing the right thing. They are two of the most generous people I know, who have always put others first and offered kindness to anyone in need. This loss came at an especially hard time, as my father is already battling stage four cancer and our family has been under enormous emotional and financial strain from his ongoing medical bills and the unknown future we face. The scam has made an already challenging situation even harder, and it pains me to know that someone took advantage of their vulnerability during this time.

My parents have always been there for others, and now they need help themselves. I’m starting this fundraiser to help relieve some of their burden—funds raised will go toward replacing the 10k lost from the scam, covering mounding medical bills, and helping with basic household expenses such as food and electric.
