Hope for Muhammed

Donation protected
My name is Bailey and I'm organizing this fundraiser from the Okanagan in British Columbia, Canada, where I reside on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Splatsin, Secwépemc, Syilx and Okanagan people.

For the past year, I’ve been talking to and/or video chatting daily with Muhammed, a 20-year-old student from occupied Palestine. Muhammed has lived through several wars in his young life, enduring more hardship than anyone should face; despite constant displacement, however, his laugh and smile are contagious, and his spirit remains bright - he has become a dear friend.

Muhammed has a passion for design and drawing, dreaming of a future where he can pursue those passions. Even while he often goes hungry, he has worked tirelessly to raise funds to deliver food and water to those in need. His efforts are the only way his family—including younger brothers—survives in these devastating conditions.

While we live with the comforts of safety and access to the essentials all humans need, Muhammed fights daily just to survive; this fundraiser will help provide food, water, and medical care, with the secondary goal of giving him the opportunity to leave the occupation and pursue a safer, more hopeful future. Ever dollar counts and is sent directly to the family.

If you'd like to connect with Muhammed, feel free to message this GoFundMe! He'd love the opportunity to be able to thank you himself :)

Thank you so much for your kindness and support!

UPDATE
February 9th, 2025

Since the ceasefire on January 19th, Muhammed and his family have made their way back home. With only rubble and leaning walls, it's an unsuitable space to live in, but they clear debris and set up fabric tents regardless.

The water cistern has been destroyed, and away from the tent cities which had come to create their own system of distribution, collecting water is near impossible.

All the same, Muhammed sends pictures of the garden he's rebuilding. "A small reward and the garden is not completely finished yet," he says, but continues "so that I can plant it like before the war and plant vegetables for Ramadan."

Currently, Muhammed and his family are without food money as donations and interactions have declined; every dollar truly does count, but if you are unable to donate - please share!

Thank you for your time ❤️
